this guy will gain at least 200 bucks each if he manages to sell all.... however, there's a risk with warranty since apple singapore don't support it.  anyway, i've moved on to use the new ipod classic (160gb).

Anybody did it via VpostUSA route before? Does Apple.com accept SG credit cards?

In terms of the costing, it would be the following:

Iphone (v1.1.1) from Apple online @ US$399 (FX: 1.48)............S$590.52
US Sales Tax (none if via VpostUSA based on Oregon address)...S$ 0.00
US Shipping (free to VpostUSA at Oregon).................................S$ 0.00
VpostUSA shipping to SG ($13.24+$9.16)..................................S$ 22.40
SG GST (7% of 2%*CIF(Cost,Insurance,shipping))......................S$42.19
Total Cost...............................................................................S$655.11

Still cheaper than the lowest resale S$750 (non-unlocked) price found in HWZ so far by close to S$95.

Also unless u walk in apple store and purchase it in the non-sales tax states like Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon, u will incur close to 10% sales tax bringing bringing cost to US$399+US$40=US$439 or (S$649.57). Hence VpostUSA price is only S$5 worse off vs buying directly there in most states.

If Apple.com does not accept SG credit cards, using vCONCIERGE will incur additional S$20.38 + 5.1%(S$590.52)= S$50.50 bringing cost to S$705.

Funambol's myFunambol webapp

Solutions: Supported Devices
Funambol iPhone Support
Funambol provides two ways to wirelessly access contacts on your iPhone from Outlook, web & work email systems, and other sources: 1) a Safari browser web app for all users; and 2) a native app for developers and advanced users that have "jailbroken" their iPhone. Both methods use the myFUNAMBOL portal and are described below.

Without Funambol, iPhone users either have to manually enter and update contacts on their iPhone or use a cable to sync contacts from Outlook, Yahoo!, etc. Neither is convenient for migrating contacts from an older phone or for ongoing updates, especially for data such as email addresses that change frequently.

Funambol enables iPhone users to:

    * Wirelessly sync contacts from other phones, over-the-air, to myFUNAMBOL. myFUNAMBOL would then contain the contacts from other phones.
    * Wirelessly sync contacts from Outlook (or other email clients such as Mozilla Thunderbird) to myFUNAMBOL.
    * Access and use these contacts on the iPhone.

As myFUNAMBOL contacts are continuously synced with other sources, users can always access and use up-to-date contacts on their iPhones. To do this, you have two options.

Web App for All Users

If you do not know what the term "jailbreak" means in relation to an iPhone, this option is for you. It works with a standard out-of-the-box iPhone. After you have established a free account on the myFUNAMBOL portal, just enter http://my.funambol.com/iphone in the Safari web browser on your iPhone. This displays a login page that allows you to enter your username and password to log in to myFUNAMBOL. Once logged in, a page displays a sorted list of myFUNAMBOL contacts. The page looks and operates virtually identically to the native address book on the iPhone e.g. you can tap the touch screen to scroll the list and select an entry. A selected entry shows a page that looks virtually identically to the iPhone's native address book, with the contact's phone #s, email addresses and location. The phone number can be tapped to call the person, the email address can be tapped to compose an email with their email address and the location can be tapped to view it on Google Maps.
Native Sync App for Developers and Advanced Users

If you have decided to "jailbreak" your iPhone and allow external native applications to be installed on the device*, this option is for you. It allows you to sync your iPhone's native address book with myFUNAMBOL.

To get the application on the iPhone, you need the following application: Installer.app. Open Installer and install Community Sources under Sources, then select Productivity and install Funambol. It includes SyncEvolution as well (but you need the BSD subsystem to be installed on the iPhone already). Change the settings and you have over-the-air address book sync.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: installing external applications on an iPhone may void one or more warranties and should only be performed by experienced, knowledgeable users. Funambol does not support this application nor is responsible for anything that happens to your iPhone as a result of this application i.e. proceed at your own risk.
