Sure or not MX-5 , one of the most stable?

I personally thought its one of the most unstable, looking back in Singapore and Malaysia seems like there are lots of spectacular crashes by this model.

Turning turtle is one of its better stunts, this car always turn turtle.

Talk about free advertising, it think Mazda's Mx5 got alot of free adverts this year all due to their spectacular crashes, I dun see alot of MR-S.

well, at 4am - you are either drunk or sleepy.
Absolute minimal traffic. How do you lose control in these conditions?? - conclusion: you are either drunk or sleepy... and probably speeding.

Hulk Hogan's son Nick Bollea was seriously injured Sunday night after his car careened off the road and struck a palm tree.

Bollea, who was featured with the rest of his family on the pro wrestler's VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best, was driving his yellow Toyota Supra down a four-lane highway in downtown Clearwater, Fla., when the car's rear tires hit the raised median, police said. After fishtailing for several seconds, the car slammed into a 25-foot tall palm tree.

"His car inexplicably left the road," Clearwater Police spokesman Wayne Shelor tells PEOPLE, "and it was totally destroyed upon impact."

The cause of the crash is unknown, although police believe the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. "We don't know exactly what happened," says Shelor, "but we are investigating."

Bollea, 17, and his male passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle using the "jaws of life." They were placed on a Medivac helicopter where they were flown seven minutes to nearby Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Bollea is in serious condition, while his passenger has been listed in critical condition.

Police alerted Hulk Hogan to the accident. According to a hospital source, the wrestler and his family are in a private waiting room as Bollea is being treated for "very serious, life-threatening" injuries. Hogan declined to address the media through a hospital spokesperson on Sunday evening, but plans to make a statement on Monday morning.

CLEARWATER, Fla. —  Hulk Hogan's son was released from the hospital Monday, a day after a car crash that critically injured his passenger, authorities said.

A Toyota Supra driven by Hogan's 17-year-old son, Nick Bollea, was traveling at a high rate of speed at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Clearwater Police spokesman Wayne Shelor said. Bollea lost control and hit a raised median. The car flipped around, and the back end hit a palm tree.

Police identified Bollea's passenger as 22-year-old John J. Graziano of Dunedin. He remained in critical condition Monday at Bayfront Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The crash occurred on SR 60, which is a main drag through downtown Clearwater. Alcohol isn't believed to have played a part in the crash. Shelor said the crash remains under investigation.

Bollea appears on VH1's "Hogan Knows Best" with his professional wrestler-father, his mother and sister.

it's always the driver. the person behind the wheel. you n me.

though a lessor powered car would probably help. ie: if it has only 50hp, and a max speed of 50kph. no matter how "fast"/"hard" the person push the car.. that's about as fast as it goes. and an accident at the lower speed would probably be more survivable.

give that same person a souped up car. 200hp, max speed of 200kph. it would probably not be the same story.

i recall a ruling overseas for new biker/drivers. they can only ride a 125CC for the first year. then if all goes ok, 250 or was it 400. then after unlimited class. likewise for cars. *singapore only apply to the bike segment (class 2B, 2A, 2). maybe it's time to consider applying it to the car segment also.

however, it would probably have limited impact. bikers are still getting killed on the roads. (class 2 bikes)

so, is there something we can do? yes.

make sure the car is always in tiptop condition. ie: brakes n tyres most important. if it can't go fast, just make sure it can stop. --------- NOT a dead stop via the wall/tree/lamp post.
good tyres prevent skidding when moving and stopping. for local weather, the general recommendation is wet weather tyres. due to the rain we get. our roads are often wet.

pay extra attention when it just starts to rain. that's when those oil deposit float up. and OIL plus WATER equals LITTLE traction.

slow down.  something as simple as this would work.

the rest like the usual drinking, seat belts, etc is understood.

that's all i have to say.

Yeah, maybe Cepheus' mom and friends should take a ride in my 5door to proof to them its not a question of the young chap or the car ... its just THAT particular chap ... kekeke.

This reminds me of a story long ago ..... a young undergrad once wrote to a forum in a family magazine ... I wanted to get bike to make travelling to and from school more convenient. I spoke to my mom but she was against it. I suggested a used 2 door coupe instead (dont need to carrying space) but she said it will be too dangerous to drive a "sports car". How about a small 4 door japanese hatchback then .. she said its like a tin can on the road ... Ms Editor what shoud I do to convince my mom .... sadly, the young chap was run over by the bus he was trying to catch on his way to school a few months later. :(

simple. go to youtube.com. search terms: "car safety accident". with that three terms, i'm presented with a series of links. then from those link, pick and choose those that are relevant.

usually, the videos uploaded by just a couple of guys. once you find one video, you go to the source. and more relevant videos will pop up.

something like stumbleupon.com.

and of course, the usual search engines always help.
