Slow Down.
Drive Safe.

STOMPer Jeanette saw this overturned car that had caught fire along the AYE towards Tuas at about 8.20am today (Apr 1).

She said she was not sure what had happened, but the incident had caused a traffic jam on the AYE.

STOMP contacted the SCDF and it said that it received a call at 7.50am today informing them that a car was on fire on the AYE towards Tuas.

It said the SCDF arrived within five minutes of receiving the call and the fire was put out within two minutes.

The SCDF said it was understood that the driver had earlier been conveyed to NUH before the car caught fire.

STOMP also contacted the Police and this is its reply:

"Police received a call today (Apr 1) at about 6.10am informing us of an accident on the AYE towards Tuas, after Jurong Pier Road.

"Upon Police arrival, a car was forced to have overturned at the said location.

"The driver was conveyed conscious to NUH with injuries.

"Police are investigating the case."

Just saw another one a few hours ago along ecp towards jurong, near exit to marina south after the IR site (that seemingly safe but actually dangerous big bend) .... a lone car front badly smashed, car was facing against traffic. Looks like a bad skid ... but road was dry ... driver okay ... Smiley

sorry no photos ... was driving the other side of the road

drove past this one just now.

front of the car pretty smashed up. driver look ok though.

that's a sweeping bend. speed limit is 70kph. but cars usually take it at over 100.

hotspot for TPs n ROVs.

last week another car crash out around those area also.

====================

an on the 1st of April, we have this.

Fatal Accident - Appealing for Witnesses         Reply   "With Quote"
My uncle was involved in an accident which claimed his life. The accident happened on Monday, 14 Apr 08, at about 5:05pm. Location is along the slip road turning out from TPE towards ECP/PIE after the junction of Loyang Way.

Police have told us that it was a self-inflicted accident because there were no stretch marks on the road. However, we insisted to keep the case open and that it was most likely a hit-and-run as the impact was so great, my uncle was thrown into the drain and had very serious injuries. He had a broken skull, which left him brain dead, broke 4 ribs, which pierced into his lungs and a broken neck. He was found without a pulse but was revived on the way to hospital, where he laid unconscious for 2 days before he passed away.

My grandmother is very depressed since his accident and his death had caused his family much grief.

I appeal to the public to call the traffic police at 1800-5471818 if you have witnessed this horrible accident.

Pls help to post this notice in other forums if you can too.

Thank You.

Alex Loh on behalf of my uncle, Mr Loh Choe Kee. Rest In Peace.

Reports from the Chinese papers, 20 April 08
